Dormaa West DCE assures timely release of disability fund

Nkrankwanta (B/R), July 13, GNA – Mr Francis Kwadwo Oppong, the Dormaa West District Chief Executive (DCE) has assured the timely release of persons with disabilities (PWDs) share of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) to improve their socio-economic well-being.

He added the Assembly’s ability to do that would enhance their livelihoods and guarantee them social inclusion and protection.

Mr Oppong gave the assurance when he spoke at a ceremony to present packages which included deep freezer refrigerator, cocoa spraying machine, sewing machine, laptop computer and cash (for medical and education purposes) to 17 selected PWDs at Nkrankwanta in the Bono Region.

The DCE said 45 PWDs had benefited from the fund since he assumed office because there was initial 28 who received equipment and other items to start their individual income-generating activities.

Mr Oppong said the selection of the beneficiaries by the Assembly’s Disability Fund Management Committee (DFMC) was devoid of partisan consideration and entreated PWDs in the District who had not yet registered with the Department of Social Welfare to do so to benefit from the fund.

Mr Shaibu Musah, an Assistant Social Welfare Officer for the District promised the beneficiaries would be monitored to ensure the use of the packages according to the intended purpose.

He emphasised the DFMC selection of beneficiaries was not discriminatory but based on established rules and procedures.
