50 Keep fit clubs to participate in Republic Day Walk

 Accra, June 28, GNA – This year’s Republic Day Walk comes off at the El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra on Saturday, July 2.

     Mr Emmanuel Adamitey, Chairman of the El-Wak Keep Fit Club who disclosed this to the GNA Sports in an interview in Accra on Tuesday, said about 50 keep fit clubs throughout the country were expected to participate in the two-hour walk.

     He said the walk, which was being organized by his outfit begins at the El-Wak Stadium through Pig Farm, Kotobabi, Mamobi to Accra Girls and back to the starting point.

     Mr. Adamitey mentioned some of the keep fit clubs expected to participate in the walk as Madina, East Legon, Teshie, Aflao, Nima, Sukura and the Greater Accra Regional Keep fit Clubs.

    The Chairman said the annual walk was suspended in 2020 due to the Covid -19 pandemic and now that the restrictions had been eased ‘we deem it fit to hold the walk this year’.

     Mr. Adamitey appealed to all Ghanaians to participate fully in the walk so as to stay healthy at all times.

     ‘’After working from January up to July, it is prudent for you to take at least one hour health walk to burn the fat that had been accrued in the body’, he added.      

       Dr. Alhaji Mahamadu Bawumia, Vice President of the Republic of Ghana is expected to grace the occasion.
