Hotels in Northern Region urged to serve local foods

Tamale, Feb. 5, GNA – Alhaji Hakeem Ismael, Northern Regional Director of Ghana Tourism Authority, has urged hotels in the region to serve their customers local foods to help promote them.

     Alhaji Ismael said the serving of local foods would enhance agricultural production and job creation in the region.

     He made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Tamale on ways to promote tourism in the region. 

     He said the region’s tourism sector had a huge potential but there was need for skilled personnel to promote and market the cultural festivals of the people globally.

     He, therefore, called on stakeholders, including government agencies and the media, to invest time and resources in educating the public and foreigners about the various components of the tourism industry in the region.
