Koforidua, Dec. 26, GNA – The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has urged consumers to take manufacturing and expiring details of food items and medicines seriously to guard against expired goods during the yuletide.
Mr Samuel Kwakye, the Eastern Regional Director of the FDA, said embossment of the expiring and manufacturing details on products especially food items, were not just a formality but to ensure the safety of consumers and therefore must not take it lightly.
The Regional FDA boss gave the caution during a festival of nine lessons and carols organized by the regional office in Koforidua, to commemorate the Christmas celebration attended by management and staff and a section of the public.
He said the FDA had embarked on intensive outreach education and sensitization programmes to draw the attention of the public on safety practices as far as food and drugs were concerned and urged the public to report any adverse findings for appropriate actions.
Mr Kwakye said despite the COVID-19 restrictions and the difficulty it presented, the region was able to meet its target for the year and commended the staff for their commitment, zeal and dedication to duty.
