Genser Energy, ABSA donate PPE to Kumasi South Hospital

Accra, May 16, GNA – Genser Energy Ghana Limited, an independent power producer in partnership with ABSA (bank), has donated various Personal Protective Equipment valued 80,000 dollars to the Kumasi South Hospital in the Ashanti Region to assist the fight against COVID-19.

The items included two ventilators, four boxes of protective goggles, four boxes of face and nose masks.
Dr Ofori Boadu, the Medical Director of the Hospital, who received the items, expressed the Hospital’s appreciation saying the items would greatly assist the hospital in the fight against the disease.

Dr Boadu said currently, there are inadequate PPEs and the donation was timely.
He said the ventilators which were very expensive shall be placed at the Hospital’s treatment centers.

He extended calls to all other stakeholders to assist the hospital in the COVID-19 fight.

Mr Onesimos Barimah Osei, Legal and Compliance Manager of Genser, expressed the hope that the items would assist the Hospital and the country in the fight against COVID-19.

Mr Osei said similar donations have been extended to the Ghana Armed Forces.

He said other investors, including ABSA, Barak Fund SPC Limited and Africa 50 all supported the cause.

Mrs Martha Larbi, the Cluster Manager for ABSA, promised the bank’s continuous support to the Health Sector to fight the prevailing pandemic.

She said ABSA has provided various financial support such as a one million cedis donation to the COVID-19 Fund and introduced the reduction of interest rates for its customers.
