Accra, Nov. 01, GNA – A Syrian national has been arrested at the Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut, Lebanon, with approximately 40 kilogrammes of suspected cocaine concealed in two pieces of luggage after arriving from Accra, Ghana.

The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) said the arrest was made on Saturday, October 31, 2026, following a coordinated controlled-delivery operation involving Ghanaian and Lebanese drug law enforcement authorities.

A press release issued by Mr Francis Opoku Amoah, Acting Director of Public Affairs and International Relations of NACOC, and copied to the Ghana News Agency, said the Commission was working to arrest the suspect’s accomplices in Ghana as part of ongoing investigations.

According to NACOC, the operation was designed to identify and apprehend individuals involved at both ends of the drug trafficking chain while gathering intelligence to dismantle the wider transnational criminal network behind the shipment.

The Commission said the successful operation underscored the strong cooperation between Ghanaian and Lebanese authorities and reflected their commitment to combating international drug trafficking through cross-border intelligence sharing and joint enforcement actions.
