Sekondi, Nov. 2, GNA – Mr. Osmanu Ibrahim Sansiro, Assembly Member for the Asemensudu Electoral Area in Sekondi has called for investigations into the administration of the Sekondi Member of Parliament’s Common Fund.
He alleged financial irregularities, questionable disbursements and breaches of public financial management and procurement regulations.
The Sekondi Assembly member said the management of the Fund-raised serious concerns about transparency and accountability, particularly in the utilisation of allocations intended to support development projects and address community needs.
Addressing a press conference in Sekondi, Mr Sansiro questioned the utilisation of about GH₵2.6 million received under the Common Fund and cited several transactions which, he said, required independent scrutiny.
He raised concerns over more than GH₵600,000 reportedly allocated for monitoring activities, as well as GH₵300,402.22 recorded under examination fees.
According to him, the examination fees comprised GH₵118,500 paid to the Member of Parliament, GH₵130,902.22 initially paid to an individual and subsequently linked to Keljul Limited, and GH₵51,000 paid to GOIL.
He also questioned a payment of GH₵56,000 for construction materials and GH₵449,985.12 in other transactions, saying the supporting documentation and procurement processes needed to be examined.
Mr Sansiro said the transactions raised questions about compliance with the Public Financial Management Act and procurement laws and called for a comprehensive audit to establish whether the allocations had been properly utilised.
He urged the relevant oversight institutions to investigate the expenditure, verify the supporting records and ensure that any breaches were dealt with in accordance with the law.
He said public funds must be managed transparently and accounted for, stressing that resources meant for constituency development should deliver tangible benefits to the people.
Mr. Sansiro noted that the seven electoral areas within the Sekondi constituency had been “cheated” by successive MPs for so long, “instead of legacy projects like what Albert Bosomtwi-Sam, our MPs continue to disappoint us”.
Mr. Blay Armah Nyameke, the MP for the Sekondi constituency when contacted on phone resolved to keep quite adding, “go ahead with whatever information Sansiro has provided”.
