Accra, Nov. 06, GNA – Award-winning Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has embarked on a promotional tour across selected African countries ahead of his highly anticipated Rapperholic Concert at London’s O2 Arena in March next year.
With more than 75 per cent of tickets already sold for the historic event, Sarkodie could become the first Ghanaian artiste to headline and fill the iconic venue, which has a capacity of more than 20,000.
With the countdown on, Sarkodie and his team are touring key African markets to create awareness and build excitement for the concert.
The award-winning rapper is currently in Kenya, where he has met with Kenyan rapper Khaligraph Jones and paid a courtesy call on Mr Paul Evans Aidoo, Ghana’s High Commissioner to Kenya.
As part of his African diaries tour, Sarkodie is also expected to visit Tanzania, Ivory Coast and Nigeria, among others.
Speaking on the significance of the initiative, Mr Berny Sarfo, Chief Executive Officer of Bizzle Entertainment and co-organiser of the UK event, said the African tour forms a key part of efforts to position the concert as a pan-African celebration of music and culture.
“The upcoming 02 arena show is more than just a concert. It is a movement to showcase African excellence on one of the world’s biggest entertainment stages. The tour will help deepen Sarkodie’s connection with fans across the continent while building excitement towards the O2 Arena experience,” he said.
Mr Sarfo noted that the African tour provides Sarkodie with an opportunity to connect with some of the biggest musical talents across the continent, with the possibility of collaborations and guest appearances at the O2 Arena show.
“This is the first time an artiste and promoter have embarked on a tour together ahead of a major concert. It demonstrates how much this O2 Arena show means to Sarkodie, Bizzle Entertainment and the entire team. We are determined to make history and deliver a memorable experience for fans with majority of tickets already sold,” he said.
Sarkodie recently staged a successful Rapperholic Homecoming Concert in Kumasi, drawing thousands of fans and reaffirming his status as one of Africa’s leading entertainers.
Before the London showpiece, the rapper is expected to host the annual Rapperholic Concert in Accra on December 25, which would serve as a major build-up event to what could become a landmark moment for Ghanaian music on the international stage.
