Aflao (V/R), Nov. 03, GNA – Mr Ferguson Ahorlu, newly elected Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ketu South Constituency, has assured journalists of a free working environment under his leadership.
He pledged to maintain an open and constructive relationship with the media.
He said his administration would welcome media scrutiny, constructive criticism and open communication, recognising the important role journalists, bloggers and content creators played in informing the public and promoting accountable leadership.
Mr Ahorlu gave the assurance in an address to the media and the newly elected constituency executives, following the party’s constituency executive elections.
He expressed appreciation to media practitioners for their coverage of the elections and said their contribution to keeping the public informed would remain important beyond the electoral process.
He said his administration was committed to maintaining a relationship with the media based on mutual respect, transparency and cooperation.
Mr Ahorlu also called on party members to put aside their differences following the internal elections and work together to strengthen the party.
He said although members might have supported different candidates during the contest, they remained part of the same political family and shared a common responsibility towards the party.
He appealed to anyone who might have been offended by his words, actions or campaign activities to accept his sincere apology, extending the apology on behalf of his executives to fellow contestants, their supporters and other party members.
He said his administration held no personal bitterness against anyone and was ready to work with all members, irrespective of the camps they supported during the elections.
Mr Ahorlu said the new leadership would promote cooperation, participation and mutual respect, with opportunities for all executives to contribute to the administration of the constituency.
He said the party’s focus must now shift from competition to responsibility, urging members to resolve disagreements through dialogue and respect for differing opinions.
He added that further engagements would be held with party members and stakeholders to rebuild trust, strengthen relationships and promote unity.
Mr Ahorlu said the success of his administration would not be determined by the number of people who supported his candidature but by the collective achievements of the party.
“We contested differently, but we must now work together. We may have had different choices, but we share one responsibility and one common future,” he said.
