Odumase-Krobo(E/R), Nov 2, GNA – Nene Sakite II, Paramount Chief (Konor) of Manya Krobo, has urged the government to complete ongoing road and classroom projects and sustain investment in infrastructure and education.
He said timely completion of the projects, alongside additional development initiatives, was necessary to improve living conditions and address the needs of communities across the municipality.
Nene Sakite II made the appeal during the celebration of the 133rd Ngmayem Festival, held under the theme: “Strengthening Our Bonds: Advancing Growth Through Heritage and Unity.”
He commended President John Dramani Mahama for the development interventions underway in the area, expressing appreciation through the Member of Parliament, the Municipal Chief Executive and the Eastern Regional Minister.
The Konor said good roads were essential to economic growth because they facilitated the movement of goods and services while improving access to healthcare and education.
“Good roads are essential towards economic growth, the movement of goods and services, access to healthcare, educational opportunities and the general well-being of our people,” he said.
He stressed that road infrastructure remained a priority because of its direct impact on the daily lives and economic activities of residents.
Nene Sakite II also called for sustained investment in classroom infrastructure, describing education as critical to the future of the next generation.
“Investment in education is an investment in the future of our nation, and it must continue so that the future generation will not blame us,” he stated.
Although he acknowledged the ongoing projects as important steps towards improving residents’ welfare, he said further interventions were needed to meet the development priorities of the traditional area.
The Konor reaffirmed the commitment of traditional authorities to working with the government, elected representatives, the Municipal Assembly and development partners.
He said such cooperation was necessary to maintain peace, attract investment and promote development.
Nene Sakite II added that traditional authorities remained open to partnerships that could deliver meaningful and lasting benefits to the people of Manya Krobo.
The annual Ngmayem Festival brings together chiefs, elders, citizens and other stakeholders to celebrate Krobo cultural heritage.
The festival also provides an opportunity to strengthen communal bonds and reflect on the development aspirations of the traditional area.
