Ho, Nov. 5, GNA – The Management and Board of GOSANET Foundation have congratulated Mr Samuel Yao Atidzah, Founder and Executive Director of the Foundation, on winning the prestigious 2026 Social Impact Leadership Award.
The recognition, they said, highlighted the Foundation’s enduring role as a trusted non-profit organisation committed to sustainable development and social justice in the country.
The congratulatory message was contained in a press release copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Ho.
“This national recognition is a testament to 21 years of selfless service, volunteerism and commitment to underserved communities in the Volta Region and beyond,” the release stated.
The award, organised by Smivic Company Limited, was presented at the Airport View Hotel in Accra on October 31, 2026, bringing together distinguished leaders from across the country to celebrate exceptional contributions to national development.
It was held on the theme: “Celebrating Leadership, Governance and Innovation for National Development – Recognising Excellence, Honouring Leadership, Inspiring Impact.”
The award recognised outstanding contributions to community development, public health advocacy and sustainable social programmes.
The release noted that, under Mr Atidzah’s leadership, the Foundation had impacted thousands of lives through community sensitisation programmes, partnership-driven interventions and public advocacy promoting accountability and inclusive development.
“For over 21 years, since founding GOSANET Foundation and serving as its Executive Director, you have led transformative initiatives across the Volta Region and beyond, championing health education, water and sanitation, youth empowerment and civil society strengthening,” it stated.
It said Mr Atidzah’s victory was particularly commendable, considering that he contested under Nominee Code GL116, a highly competitive category recognising individuals whose work had created sustainable and measurable social change in communities.
The Management and Board urged him to sustain his efforts to win more accolades for himself and the Foundation.
They also called on stakeholders, development partners and the general public to continue supporting the Foundation’s mission.
In an interview with the GNA, Mr Atidzah said the recognition was a testament to the dedication of the Foundation’s staff, volunteers, partners and the communities it served.
“This award is not for me alone. It is for every community health volunteer, every person living with HIV who found hope, every young person we have mentored, and every partner who believed that transformation is possible from the grassroots.
“We remain committed to empowering communities and transforming lives through impactful, locally-led solutions,” he said.
GOSANET Foundation was founded in 2005 by Mr Atidzah and operates under the mantra, “Empowering Communities, Transforming Lives.”
It has since become a leading grassroots organisation in community health, HIV/AIDS advocacy and support for persons living with HIV/AIDS.
Its other areas of focus include youth empowerment, skills development, educational support, women’s empowerment and livelihood programmes.
The Foundation also undertakes community development and social inclusion initiatives for vulnerable groups, as well as research, advocacy and partnerships for sustainable development.
