Ejisu (Ash), Nov. 06, GNA – Drivers in the Ejisu municipality of the Ashanti region, have called for intensified public education on Ghana’s new road traffic regulations to ensure that motorists, passengers and pedestrians understand the new requirements and comply with the law.

The call comes amid the implementation of the new regulations, which are aimed at promoting road discipline and improving safety on the country’s roads.

An inspection of some sections of the Ejisu-Tech junction area reveals challenges with traffic movement despite the presence of functioning traffic lights.

The situation has raised concerns about road users’ compliance with traffic regulations and the need for increased awareness, to ensure the smooth movement of vehicles and protect pedestrians.

Some of the drivers who spoke to the Ghana News Agency, said although they supported the enforcement of the new regulations, authorities needed to intensify public education to help road users understand the changes and their responsibilities.

They explained that, adequate education would enable motorists and other road users to familiarise themselves with the regulations, avoid unnecessary violations and contribute to safer roads.

The drivers also called on the relevant authorities to engage transport operators, motorists and other stakeholders in sustained public awareness campaigns to promote responsible road use.

They maintained that, effective enforcement, backed by continuous public education, would help improve compliance, reduce traffic-related challenges and promote safety on the country’s roads.
