Nov 4 (BBC/GNA) – The Democrats win the Senate and the House in US midterm elections, taking control of Congress for the rest of Donald Trump’s presidency.
Trump says the Democrats “did a good job” – and acknowledges the Iran war, and higher fuel prices, played a part in the defeat
In the Senate race, Democrats picked up a string of victories in Republican strongholds, including Texas, Ohio, and Kansas – which last elected a Democrat almost 100 years ago.
In Michigan, Democrat Abdul El-Sayed claims victory – he’ll be the first Muslim to serve in the US Senate.
With control of Congress, Democrats will be able to frustrate President Trump’s plans for the next two years – and could even try to impeach him for a third time.
