Akatsi (V/R), Nov. 01, GNA – Mr Curtis William Brantuo, Acting Managing Director of ARB Apex Bank PLC, has called on community banks to strengthen corporate governance, risk management and digital banking systems to remain resilient amid ongoing reforms in Ghana’s microfinance sector.
He said the reforms offered community banks an opportunity to enhance institutional capacity, adopt modern banking practices and position themselves to compete effectively in the evolving financial services landscape.
Mr Brantuo made the call at the commissioning of the new head office of Avenor Community Bank PLC at Akatsi.
He said the future success of community banking would depend on the ability of institutions to maintain financial stability while improving customer service and operational efficiency.
According to him, the new head office should represent more than physical expansion, stressing that the bank’s long-term performance would ultimately be measured by the quality of its loan portfolio, the strength of its capital base, the confidence of depositors and the effectiveness of its internal controls.
Mr Brantuo said ARB Apex Bank recognised its responsibility to support community banks through capacity-building programmes, technical assistance, enhanced digital banking solutions and improvements in risk management and governance systems.
He noted that the ongoing reform framework envisaged a broader role for ARB Apex Bank in providing shared services, technology platforms, and operational support to member institutions.
Mr Brantuo further urged Avenor Community Bank to embrace innovation responsibly and ensure that growth and expansion did not compromise its financial stability.
