Trump votes early in Florida ahead of US midterm elections

Washington, Oct 25. (dpa/GNA) – US President Donald Trump, cast his ballot on Saturday, ahead of the November 3 midterm elections, visiting a polling station in Florida with first lady Melania Trump.

The president voted in person in West Palm Beach, near his Mar-a-Lago estate, where he was spending the weekend.

After casting his ballot, Trump wore an “I Voted” sticker on his lapel.

Trump has pushed for stricter rules on postal voting, ahead of the midterms, arguing that the changes would help prevent electoral fraud.

The elections will determine control of Congress for the final two years of Trump’s presidency.

Trump’s Republicans hope to defend their narrow majorities in both chambers of Congress.

Polls suggest Democrats have a strong chance of winning control of the House of Representatives.  The Senate is considered harder to flip, as only about one-third of its seats are up for election, but a change in control remains possible.
