Ho, Oct. 3, GNA – Sonrise Christian High School has donated food items, water and toiletries valued at more than GHS20,000 to residents of a cured lepered village as part of activities marking its 21st anniversary.

The donation, made on Friday, October 2, 2026, formed part of the school’s annual Day of Service, which promotes community service and compassion among students.

Mr Joseph Dzamesi, Administrator of the School, said the institution, established on October 3, 2005, would mark its 21st anniversary on Saturday, October 3, 2026.

He said the school had adopted the tradition of celebrating its anniversaries by visiting communities and institutions where students could serve and make a difference.

Mr Dzamesi said the initiative was intended to teach students the values of giving, community responsibility and supporting people who needed assistance.

He said students and staff undertook communal cleaning, including weeding and other sanitation activities, to improve the environment for residents who faced physical limitations.

The school also presented rice, gari, maize, toiletries, and sachet water to the community.

Mr Dzamesi said the items were procured through contributions from students during chapel services, staff and additional support from the school.

He said the gesture was also a way of expressing gratitude to God for His blessings on the institution over the past 21 years.

“You do not have to be a rich person to make a difference. You first have to identify the needs around you,” he said.

Mr Dzamesi said communities had people who needed support, urging individuals and institutions to contribute whatever they could to improve the lives of others.

He said the school had sustained its service tradition by reaching out to places such as the prison service and the cured leprosy village.

“God blesses us mainly so that we can bless others. The more we open ourselves to support others, the more resources we receive to help,” he said.

Mr Nelson Attito, Care Leader of the village, received the items and expressed appreciation to the school’s management, staff and students for the gesture.

He prayed for God’s blessings upon the school community for their generosity and concern for the residents.
