Accra, Oct. 5, GNA – An Adenta Circuit Court has granted bail in the sum of GH¢100,000 to Salomey Awiti Bafoh, a nurse accused of abetting a United Kingdom-based TikToker, popularly known as Ghana Jollof.
Bafoh is alleged to have aided Ghana Jollof in the publication and circulation of false information relating to national security and calls to overthrow the government.
The court ordered Bafoh to provide two sureties, both of whom must be public servants earning not less than GH¢3,000 a month. She was also directed to report every two weeks to the Hensua Police Station in the Techiman North District of the Bono East Region.
The case has been adjourned to February 17, 2027.
At Monday’s hearing, defence counsel Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah told the court that his client had been in custody for three weeks following her remand at the previous sitting.
Dr Justice Srem-Sai, the Deputy Attorney-General, did not oppose the bail application.
Bafoh has pleaded not guilty to a charge of abetting the publication of false news.
On September 17, 2026, the court remanded her into police custody and ordered her to reappear on September 30.
However, the court did not sit on that date, resulting in the matter being adjourned to October 5, 2026.
Her lawyer had earlier filed a bail application at the High Court, but the request was declined.
Prosecutors allege that the 40-year-old nurse conspired with Barbara Asantewa Kodua, alias Ghana Jollof, a UK-based TikToker, to publish and circulate false information.
Prosecution said Bafoh abetted Barbara in disseminating false news on September 13, 2026, with the content allegedly touching on national security matters.
The court heard that Bafoh resides in Techiman, while Barbara operates a TikTok account under the name [email protected] and is currently based in the United Kingdom.
Investigators claim that over a period of time, Barbara used her social media platform to produce and publish videos containing offensive and inflammatory statements deemed capable of provoking violence.
In one of the videos under investigation, Barbara allegedly threatened to overthrow the Government of Ghana and made other remarks considered inciteful.
Police investigations subsequently identified Bafoh as an alleged collaborator.
Investigations established that Bafoh helped disseminate videos produced by Barbara by recruiting other individuals to redistribute and circulate the content across various social media platforms, prosecution said.
Further investigations allegedly revealed financial transactions between the two accused persons, with Barbara reportedly transferring money from the UK to Bafoh in Ghana to support the activities.
The prosecution said Bafoh subsequently distributed portions of the funds to other individuals involved in circulating the videos.
Investigations are ongoing to identify and trace other persons believed to have participated in the distribution of the content, it said.
Meanwhile, the Police have issued a statement declaring Ghana Jollof wanted and have appealed to the public to provide information on her whereabouts to the nearest police station.
