Koforidua, Oct. 21, GNA – A total of 77 candidates are contesting executive positions in the New Juaben South Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of elections scheduled for Saturday, October 24, 2026.

The elections will determine the constituency’s leadership across key positions, including chairman, vice-chairman, secretary, treasurer, organiser, communication officer, youth organiser, and women organiser, alongside their deputies and other representatives.

Ms Gifty Nyamekye Manteaw, the New Juaben South Municipal Electoral Commission Officer, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview that the Commission was ready to conduct the elections at the Cultural Centre in Koforidua.

She said voting would begin at 0800 hours and end at 1700 hours.

The number of candidates contesting the various positions points to a competitive constituency-level election, with delegates expected to choose leaders who will direct the party’s organisation and activities locally.

Mr Isaac Ametameh, Deputy Elections Director for the NDC in the New Juaben South Constituency, said constituencies played a key role in representative democracy by giving communities a voice in national, and regional governance.

He urged delegates to vote with integrity and objectivity, saying their decisions should reflect the long-term interests of the party and its members.

“Although elections will produce winners, in the end, we must all win together. Let us commit to rallying behind the victorious team immediately after the declaration,” he said.

His appeal highlighted the need for unity after the polls, as the party prepares to work with the leaders elected by delegates.
