Nkroful (W/R), Oct. 15, GNA – The 1995 Year Group of the Nkroful Agricultural Senior High School Old Students Association (NASSOSA ’95) has unveiled a bust in honour of Mr Joseph E. Ackah (J.E. Ackah), first Headmaster of the school, who served from 1972 to 1984.
The bust, erected in front of the Administration block, is a lasting monument to his memory as the first substantive and longest-serving Headmaster who put the school on a sound footing.
The event coincided with the commissioning of a newly constructed tennis court and the donation of sports equipment by the 1995 Year Group.
Unveiling the bust, Mr Joe Sam, an alumnus of the 1978 batch who later taught Physical Education at the school, described Mr Ackah as a disciplinarian, religious and very strict person who did not compromise on academic work and built a strong foundation for the school.
He said through the efforts of the first Headmaster, the school attained sixth-form status.
Mr Sam, who recently retired as Assistant Headmaster of Kwame Nkrumah Senior High School at Nsein, eulogized Mr Ackah for lifting up the school through good academic performance and sporting activities, adding that NASS placed 7th at the Western Regional Inter-Schools Sports competition held at Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS).
He charged current students to maintain and improve upon the existing records of the school.
Madam Yvonne Ackah, daughter of Mr Ackah and a member of the 1995 Year Batch, on behalf of the J.E. Ackah family and the ’95 batch, expressed appreciation to the school authorities and old students for honouring her father.
