Accra, Oct. 15, GNA – The preliminary round fixtures for the 2026/27 MTN FA Cup have been announced following a draw, with several intriguing encounters expected across the various groups.
The preliminary stage would feature clubs from the Division One and Division Two leagues, while the 18 Ghana Premier League clubs have been exempted and would join the competition at the Round of 64.
Among the standout fixtures is the Bono derby between Victory Club Warriors FC and former Premier League side Eleven Wonders FC in Group One.
Eleven Wonders would be looking to make a strong start to their FA Cup campaign as they continue their push towards returning to the topflight, while Victory Club Warriors would be hoping to make an impact following significant investment in their squad this season.
In group two, former Premier League campaigners Real Tamale United (RTU) would face Yapei United in a Northern derby, while Tamale City FC take on Wa Power SC in another potentially exciting encounter.
Tamale City narrowly missed out on Premier League promotion last season, while Wa Power have established themselves as a competitive side in the Division One League.
Another notable fixture would see Okwawu United host Kotoku Royals in Group Nine in an Eastern Region derby involving two former Premier League clubs.
King Faisal FC will begin their campaign against Pro Sports Academy in Group Five, while Ebony FC faces a difficult assignment against Nations FC in the same group.
In Group Eight, former Premier League side Great Olympics FC will take on MSK Zilina FC, in a contest that pits the experience of the “Dade Boys” against the youthful talent of the academy side.
Accra Lions FC would also face John Paintsil FC in Group Eight, while last season’s finalists Golden Kick SC have been paired against Attram De Visser in another interesting fixture.
Sefwi All Stars FC hosts Skyy FC in a Western Region derby in Group Seven, with both sides seeking passage to the next stage of the competition.
The winners of the preliminary round ties would advance as the competition moves to Round of 64.
