Accra, Oct. 22, GNA – The Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF) has recorded GH¢7.82 billion in mineral royalty receipts in the first nine months of 2026, targeting GH¢9 billion by year-end.

The receipts represented a 106 per cent increase over the GH¢3.79 billion recorded during the corresponding period in 2025.
The Fund disclosed this in its third-quarter results copied to the Ghana News Agency, attributing the increase to higher gold prices, the implementation of the sliding-scale royalty mechanism, sustained production levels and enhanced monitoring of mining activities.

Large-scale gold mining remained the leading source of royalty receipts, contributing GH¢7.66 billion, up 116 per cent from GH¢3.54 billion in the first nine months of 2025.

Mid-tier gold mining generated GH¢110.34 million, representing an increase of about 99 per cent from GH¢55.31 million recorded during the same period last year.

The performance reflected the dominant contribution of gold mining to the Fund’s royalty receipts during the period.
‎Among non-gold minerals, quarry royalties increased by about six per cent to GH¢11.35 million from approximately GH¢10.8 million in the first nine months of 2025. ‎

‎Sand royalties also rose by about 41 per cent, from GH¢390,274 to GH¢550,871 over the same period. ‎
‎Limestone royalties, however, declined from GH¢7.08 million to GH¢4.84 million, following reduced production in the second quarter, when increased rainfall disrupted mining activities and constrained output.

‎The nine-month performance followed strong receipts in the first half of 2026, when the Fund recorded more than GH¢5.3 billion, compared with GH¢2.64 billion in the corresponding period of 2025. ‎

‎Commenting on the results, MIIF Chief Executive Officer, Mrs Justina Nelson, reaffirmed the Fund’s commitment to responsible financial management and the effective utilisation of mineral revenues for the benefit of Ghana.

‎She said the Fund’s mandate extended to strategic investments across the mining value chain through equities, fixed-income securities and alternative investments, with the objective of generating sustainable returns for the country.

‎Mrs Nelson said the Fund remained committed to maximising the value of Ghana’s mineral wealth and ensuring that mineral revenues contributed meaningfully to sustainable national development.
