Kuffour-Camp, (Bono), Oct. 27, GNA-Nana Owusu Afriyie, the Chief of Kuffour-Camp, a farming community in the Sunyani Municipality, has appealed for support towards the completion of a school building project in the community.

He expressed worry that the construction work on the three-unit classroom block project, to be served as a basic school, was initiated by the community in 2025, however, it had been abandoned due to lack of funds.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Kuffour-Camp, Nana Afriyie called on corporate bodies, the municipal assembly and faith-based organisations to come to their aid, saying that the project had creche, Kindergarten and lower primary as well as offices and library.

Nana Afriyie noted that school children in the area walked about 2.8 kilometers every day from the community to attend school at Atronie, the nearest town.

He said besides the Kuffuor-Camp’s population was growing steadily, saying that on completion the project would serve 300 children in the area.

Nana Afriyie recollected a sad story where a vehicle knocked down some school children when they were returning from school.

He commended Mr Seid Mubarak, the Member of Parliament for Sunyani East for supporting the project, however added that they needed more support in the form of cash, and building materials like roofing sheets, cement, paint, nails, chippings, plywood.

Maame Adwoa Konama, a parent in the community, also told the GNA that the performance of the school children in the area was not all that good because of the stress they went through.

“During the wet seasons, many of the children don’t go to school”, she stated, adding that besides, snake bites were also common in the area.
