Zenu, Oct. 16, GNA – Mr Joseph Akuerteh Tetteh, Member of Parliament (MP) for Kpone-Katamanso, has handed over a power plant to the Zenu Polyclinic to help address electricity supply challenges affecting healthcare delivery in the area.

Mr Tetteh said reliable electricity was critical to the effective operation of health facilities, especially in supporting medical equipment and maintaining essential services during power outages.

The power plant was presented as part of activities marking the 10th anniversary celebration of the Zenu Polyclinic.

He said the intervention would help reduce disruptions to healthcare delivery and improve the facility’s capacity to provide essential services to residents.

“Electricity is needed to power the most basic services in healthcare facilities, from lighting and communications to clean water supply,” he said.

The MP noted that a dependable power supply was particularly important for medical equipment used in childbirth, immunisation, and routine and emergency medical procedures.

Mr Tetteh also pledged his support for plans to construct a maternity block with a theatre at the polyclinic to strengthen maternal healthcare services in the Zenu community.

He further appealed to the Ghana Water Company Limited to address recurring water shortages in the community, particularly at the polyclinic, where reliable water supply remained essential for effective healthcare delivery.

Dr Esther Priscilla Biamah Danquah, Municipal Director of Health Services for the Kpone-Katamanso Municipality, made a similar appeal for support towards the proposed maternity block project, which is expected to include a theatre, conference rooms and staff offices.

She said the project would enhance the facility’s capacity to provide comprehensive maternal healthcare services, manage obstetric emergencies and improve health outcomes for mothers and newborns.

Dr Danquah appealed to the Government, corporate organisations, development partners, individuals and other stakeholders to support the project.

Mr Derick Amofa Boateng, Medical Superintendent of the Zenu Polyclinic, expressed appreciation to the MP for the support, particularly the provision of the power plant.

He also appealed to religious organisations, institutions and other stakeholders to assist in addressing challenges confronting healthcare facilities.
