Titiaka Junction (O/R), Oct. 8, GNA – Construction of a Farmer Service Centre at Titiaka Junction, a farming community in the Kadjebi District of the Oti Region, has reached about 40 per cent completion.

A visit by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) to the project site on Thursday revealed that the project had reached the plinth stage, with foundation and other preliminary works completed.

Mr Ernest Attu, Site Engineer, who conducted the GNA round the project, said B5 Plus Company, an Accra-based construction firm, was executing the project.

He said construction commenced in August 2026 and was expected to be completed within six months, with a handover scheduled for February 2027.

Mr Attu said the completed facility would provide a range of services and facilities to support farmers and other actors in the agricultural value chain.

He said the facility would include a mechanical shop, cafeteria, car park, dormitory, fuel and lubricant shop, spare-parts shop, and fertiliser shop, among other facilities.

He, however, said the waterlogged nature of the project site was slowing down construction activities, but expressed confidence that the contractor would complete and hand over the facility within the scheduled period.

The project is being constructed on an eight-acre parcel of land at Titiaka Junction and is expected to serve farmers within the area and adjoining farming communities.

Mr Masawudu Mutawakil Malamfari, Assemblyman for the Koto Nkwanta Electoral Area, within whose jurisdiction the project falls, commended the Government for the project.

He said the facility would be beneficial to farmers in the area and expressed the hope that it would be completed on schedule to enable the community to derive its intended benefits

The Farmer Service Centre initiative forms part of efforts to improve farmers’ access to essential agricultural services, inputs, machinery, and other support services at the community level.

The centres are intended to bring critical services closer to farmers, reduce the challenges associated with accessing farm machinery and inputs, and contribute to improved agricultural productivity and livelihoods.

During the 2024 campaign, Mahama promised to begin with 50 Farmer Service Centres at strategic locations.

Under the Feed Ghana Programme documentation, however, the longer-term programme target is much larger, with 270 Farmers’ Service Centres proposed nationwide during the programme. period.
