Indonesia’s local currency transactions projected to reach 55 bln USD in 2026

Jakarta, Oct 26. (Xinhua/GNA) – Indonesia’s trade and investment transactions using local currencies under the Local Currency Transaction (LCT) framework are projected to reach 55 billion U.S. dollars by the end of 2026, Bank Indonesia Governor Destry Damayanti said Monday.

The amount is more than double the roughly 25 billion dollars recorded in 2025, the governor said at a forum held in Jakarta.

The growing use of local currencies in export, import, and investment aims to reduce reliance on the U.S. dollar and support exchange rate stability for the Indonesian rupiah amid global market dynamics, Damayanti added.

Bank Indonesia said it had established LCT cooperation with some countries and regions and continued to expand these bilateral partnerships.
