Ampain (W/R), Oct. 21, GNA – Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ellembelle, has reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to retooling Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions to enhance skills development and entrepreneurship among the youth.
He said technical and vocational education remained key to equipping young people with practical skills for self-employment and national development.
Mr Shaibu Dauda, Personal Assistant to Mr Armah-Kofi Buah, made the remarks on behalf of the MP when he presented seven industrial sewing machines to the Garment and Fashion Department of the Kikam Technical Institute (KIMTECH) at the AYA Community Centre at Ampain in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region.
The donation fulfilled a pledge made by Mr Armah-Kofi Buah, who is also the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, after he became aware of challenges affecting practical training at the school during the commissioning of a 12-unit ultra-modern classroom block for the institution.
Mr Dauda said the donation demonstrated the MP’s commitment to improving education delivery in the Ellembelle District.
He noted that the Government remained committed to addressing challenges facing the education sector and creating an enabling environment for effective teaching and learning.
Tutors of the institute, who received the machines on behalf of the Principal, Mr Emmanuel A. Anomah, expressed appreciation to Mr Armah-Kofi Buah and the Government for the timely intervention.
Mr Anomah described the MP’s support and investment in the development of the school as unparalleled.
He assured the MP that the machines would be put to good use to strengthen practical training in garment and fashion design.
