GNA Editor James Amoh Jnr Selected for KAS Foreign Policy Masterclass in Germany

Accra, Oct. 24, GNA – Mr James Amoh Junior, an Editor and Diplomatic and Foreign Affairs Correspondent of the Ghana News Agency (GNA), has been selected to participate in a high-level masterclass for African journalists on foreign policy in Berlin, Germany.

The programme, dubbed: “Covering the World from Africa: A Masterclass for African Journalists on Foreign Policy,” is organised by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Regional Media Programme for Sub-Saharan Africa from October 25 – 30, 2026.

The “Media Programme Sub-Sahara Africa” of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, seeks to strengthen the role of free and independent media and improve the framework under which journalists work.

Mr Amoh is among 13 emerging journalists selected from across Sub-Saharan Africa for demonstrating promise in diplomatic, international affairs and political reporting.

The masterclass seeks to strengthen the quality and depth of foreign policy reporting in Africa through analytical and practical sessions examining the continent’s role in international relations.

The programme will focus on Africa-European Union relations, Africa-China relations, peace and security dynamics, climate diplomacy, and the detection and countering of disinformation in foreign policy narratives.

Participants will also engage in stakeholder meetings in Berlin to deepen their understanding of international policy issues and strengthen the practical dimensions of their reporting.

The programme will feature expert faculty, including a former German Ambassador and a specialist in Africa-China relations, alongside mentorship from senior journalists.

It will culminate in an Editorial Pitch Workshop, where participants will develop and present story ideas to selected publications, with support from senior mentors and accountability partners for 90 days after the masterclass.

Mr Amoh’s selection follows another professional development opportunity earlier in April 2026, when he was selected among 10 journalists nationwide for the UK-Ghana Media Capacity Training for Excellence in Science Communication (UK MEET Fellowship) at Imperial College London.

The training sought to strengthen journalists’ capacity to communicate scientific research and developments effectively, helping bridge the gap between scientific knowledge and public understanding.

Mr Amoh has over a decade of experience in journalism, having worked at the GNA since 2011 as a stringer and subsequently Chief Reporter.

His reporting experience spans diplomacy and foreign affairs, peace and security, governance, international development, water and sanitation, science and digital media.

In his role as Head of the Agency’s Social Media Unit, Mr Amoh also contributes to the development of digital journalism and multimedia storytelling.

His participation in the professional development programmes demonstrates his continuing engagement with specialised reporting in areas critical to public understanding, international cooperation and national development.

The Berlin masterclass is expected to provide an opportunity for participating journalists to exchange professional experiences, build networks and develop practical approaches to covering complex international issues from African perspectives.
