‎
‎Accra, Oct. 8, GNA – France and Ghana are deepening bilateral cooperation in health, security, trade and education, French Ambassador to Ghana, Madam Diarra Dimé-Labille, has said.
‎
‎
‎She said the partnership had been reinforced by major economic contracts and high-level engagements between President John Dramani Mahama and French President Emmanuel Macron.
‎
‎
‎Madam Dimé-Labille made the remarks at a reception for the French and business communities in Ghana at the French Residence in Accra.
‎
‎
‎“Thanks to everyone’s commitment, I can say with great satisfaction that ties between the two countries are growing stronger, with closer cooperation in several areas of mutual interest such as health, security, trade, and education,” she said.
‎
‎
‎The reception brought together members of the French community, businesses, entrepreneurs, institutions and other partners to celebrate the longstanding relations between the two countries.
‎
‎
‎On reparatory justice, an issue Ghana has championed internationally, the Ambassador said France remained open to dialogue and had made concrete commitments to guide its future actions.
‎
‎
‎She said both countries would continue to strengthen their relations despite objections from “competitors and detractors.”
‎
‎
‎Madam Dimé-Labille, who has completed a year in her diplomatic mission in Ghana, said she was impressed by the dynamism and commitment of the French community, businesses and the wider “Equipe France” in the country.
‎
‎
‎She said French economic actors contributed to Ghana’s development through investments, job creation, infrastructure development and the movement of capital and goods.
‎
‎
‎The Ambassador acknowledged the contributions of French companies, foreign trade advisers, the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), Business France, BPI France, the Economic Department and the France-Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
‎
‎
‎“I have witnessed the dynamism driven by all the French actors in Ghana, and the sense of camaraderie that unites us. That is our greatest pièce de résistance,” she said.
‎
‎
‎Madam Dimé-Labille also recognised the contributions of the Jacques Prévert International French High School, the network of Alliances Françaises, research institutions CIRAD and IRD, the French Embassy and the wider Equipe France to strengthening bilateral relations.
‎
‎
‎She said their activities had helped sustain a vibrant French presence in Ghana through friendships, partnerships and exchanges between the people of both countries.
‎
‎
‎The Ambassador said significant engagements during the year had further strengthened bilateral ties, including the One Health Summit in Lyon, President Mahama’s official visit to Paris, the Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi and a high-level conference on reparations held in Accra.
‎
‎
‎She said the relationship, championed by Presidents Macron and Mahama, continued to expand through political dialogue and growing economic, cultural, scientific and people-to-people exchanges.
‎
‎
‎Madam Dimé-Labille said she would give a more comprehensive assessment of her first year in Ghana at a New Year’s reception scheduled for January 2027.
‎
‎
‎She expressed appreciation to individuals and organisations working to promote France-Ghana relations and thanked the sponsors for supporting the reception.
