Accra, Oct. 9, GNA – Mr Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, Minister of Labour, Jobs and Employment, has held talks with striking public pre-tertiary teacher unions to address their concerns over outstanding promotion arrears, deprived area allowance and their collective agreement.
The meeting, held at the Minister’s office on Friday, followed an earlier engagement between the unions and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) on Tuesday.
Mr Agyekum said discussions with the unions had been extensive and expressed optimism that the negotiations would yield positive results by the end of the day.
“Our negotiations are going on positively, and I know by the end of the day there will be some positive results,” he said.
The unions are expected to meet the Council of State later on Friday before holding further discussions with the FWSC.
