Akim Oda (E/R), Oct. 14, GNA – The Eastern Region Poultry Farmers Association (ERPFA) has adopted an amended constitution to strengthen cooperation among members, improve farmers’ representation and support the growth of the poultry industry.
The constitution was signed on October 1, 2026, at the Department of Agriculture’s Conference Room in Birim Central Municipality.
The event brought together executives and founding members from Denkyembour District, Kwaebibirem Municipality and Birim Central Municipality.
The ERPFA was registered under the Companies Act, 2019 (Act 992), at the Registrar-General’s Department on October 10, 2023, with registration number CG076711023.
Nana Kwame Effah, the Acting Chairperson of the Association, said the amendment aimed to build a more inclusive and coordinated organisation, encourage grassroots participation and strengthen cooperation among poultry farmers.
He said the Association would also strengthen its capacity to advocate for farmers’ interests and improve the sector’s growth and competitiveness.
Nana Effah announced plans to begin an outreach programme across the Eastern Region to expand membership, engage poultry farmers and raise awareness of the Association’s objectives.
He appealed to agricultural directors, development partners, private-sector actors and other stakeholders to support the initiative and help address challenges across the poultry value chain.
Such partnerships, he said, would promote the transfer of knowledge and technology and improve farmers’ access to relevant services and opportunities.
Mr Alex Asamoah-Bonti, Vice Chairperson of the Association, said poultry farming offered an accessible entry point into agriculture, with relatively low start-up costs, the potential for quick returns and regular cash flow.
He said farmers could generate income through poultry meat and egg production.
