Despite Travels to pitch Western Region’s tourism potential to global investors

By Seth Danquah, GNA

Takoradi, Oct. 12, GNA – Mr Seth Ameyaw Danquah, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Despite Travels, is set to represent Ghana at the upcoming Antalya Tourism Fair (ATF 2026) in Turkey to position the Western Region as a premier destination for international tourism investment.

Scheduled to take place from October 26 to 28, 2026 at the ANFAŞ Expo Centre in Antalya, the trade show would bring together more than 1,000 global travel brands, hotel chains, tour operators, and destination management companies, where he would pitch high-yield investment opportunities in Ghana’s eco-tourism, hospitality, and coastal transport infrastructure.

Mr Danquah stated that while Ghana continued to enjoy international recognition for its rich cultural heritage, he believed that the Western Region remained an under-utilized treasure trove capable of driving regional economic development.

He said: “The Western Region possesses an extraordinary blend of pristine eco-tourism attractions, historic coastal architecture, vibrant fishing hubs, and rich cultural traditions. Yet, realising its full potential requires strategic international capital, hospitality partnerships, and modern tourism management systems.”

According to him, his goal at the ATF 2026 was to build direct bridges between Turkish and European investors to the immense possibilities in Ghana.

Mr Danquah stated that he would position historic landmarks in the region such as Fort Orange in Sekondi, Fort San Sebastian in Shama, and the world-renowned floating village of Nzulezu among others as prime nodes for sustainable cultural tours.

“Seeking partners and joint ventures to expand eco-luxury accommodations and beach resorts along the coastline stretching from Takoradi to Busua, and showcasing structured regional itineraries such as the newly designed Takoradi City Tour to international tour operators looking for fresh African circuits will be my focus at the event,” he added.

He said beyond pitching investment prospects, he would engage leading global technology providers and travel-tech start-ups to explore digital solutions that could streamline local tour bookings, digital marketing, and destination management across Ghana.

Mr Danquah said: “I see this mission not merely as a corporate venture, but as a commitment to economic empowerment through tourism, creating sustainable employment for local youth, expanding markets for artisans, and spurring infrastructure growth across the Twin City of Sekondi-Takoradi and beyond.”
