Kathmandu, Sept 30. (dpa/GNA) – The death toll from floods and landslides in Nepal has risen to at least 34, authorities said on Wednesday, as the largest suspension bridge in the country was shut due to damage.
A spokeswoman for the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority said at least 15 people have been injured, and 11 are still missing since the latest wave of heavy rainfall began on Thursday.
A total of 23 deaths occurred due to landslides, while other causes included floods, avalanche and heavy rainfall, spokeswoman Shanti Mahat added.
Nearly 1200 families were affected, with hundreds of houses totally or partially damaged, alongside cowsheds and farmlands.
