Accra, Oct. 21, GNA – An Accra Circuit Court has granted GH¢2 million bail each to two persons accused of making conflicting grants of the same parcel of land.
The court admitted Nene Ebenezer Mormo Kissiedu Nyamaa II, a farmer, and George Kenneth Tetteh, a retired educationist, to bail with three sureties each, one to be justified.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Seth Frimpong told the court that the accused allegedly granted the same land to different persons despite prior transactions involving the property.
The court directed the accused to report weekly to the Police investigator and adjourned the case to November 16, 2026.
The prosecution said the complainant, Francis Godsway Ntem, a trader resident in Tema, was introduced to the accused between 2021 and 2022 while searching for land for development.
The accused allegedly represented that they had land around Asutsuare Junction on the Akosombo main road and subsequently sold 1,009 acres to the complainant, who was issued with an indenture.
The court heard that when the complainant attempted to develop the land, he was confronted by Ibrahim Yakubu, also known as Sariki Awala, who claimed ownership of the property.
The prosecution said investigations revealed that Yakubu had acquired 628.12 acres at Luom-Osudoku in 2010 from the late Chief of Luom and had since developed the land, including establishing a livestock farm and granting portions to third parties.
ASP Frimpong said ownership claims later emerged following court decisions involving the land.
He said the accused, acting as Stool Priest and Secretary of the Gbesedorm Clan, together with other clan representatives, relied on a Supreme Court judgment dated July 7, 2021, and re-granted the land to Yakubu through an indenture dated January 3, 2022.
The prosecution further alleged that in October 2019, the Gbesedorm Clan granted 3,211 acres, including Yakubu’s parcel, to the Aworteye Narh Family.
ASP Frimpong said the accused knew of earlier transactions involving the land but allegedly accepted money from the complainant and granted the same property to him.
The prosecution said the accused were arrested, cautioned and charged, and were later granted Police enquiry bail.
Nyamaa II and Tetteh have denied conspiring to grant land to more than one person.
