Jinijini (Bono), Oct. 17, GNA – Rango Construction Limited, contractors executing the Jinijini-Sampa Road Project in the Berekum West District of the Bono Region, has expressed concern about the theft of construction materials, which is affecting the smooth execution of the project.
Mr Felix Agyei, Public Relations Officer of Rango Construction Limited, said the stealing of gravel at some sections of the road was slowing progress on the project, which forms part of the Government’s “Big Push” infrastructure programme.
He made the disclosure at a ceremony at Jinijini, where the Berekum West District Assembly presented working tools and equipment to 57 Persons with Disabilities (PwDs).
A total of 43 beneficiaries received GH¢3,000 each in cash, while others were supported with fufu pounding machines, deep freezers, and educational and health assistance.
Mr Agyei appealed to residents in communities along the road corridor to remain vigilant and assist in curbing the theft of construction materials.
He also commended key stakeholders, including the Member of Parliament, for their intervention in facilitating the demolition of structures affected by the road project.
Mr Agyei said the road project was expected to be completed by the end of 2028.
Earlier, Mr Collins Asomah, the Berekum West District Chief Executive, said the items distributed to the beneficiaries were procured from the District’s share of the second-quarter disbursement of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF).
He advised the beneficiaries to utilise the items and financial support for their intended purposes to improve their socio-economic livelihoods.
