Colgate Ghana introduces student scholarship initiative

Accra, Oct. 23, GNA – Colgate Ghana has launched an eight-week scholarship initiative in partnership with Melcom Group aimed at supporting students’ education through purchases of selected oral care products.

The initiative which runs until December 18, 2026, is expected to provide GHS240,000 in educational scholarships and GHS120,000 in Melcom shopping vouchers to beneficiaries nationwide.

Under the initiative, customers who purchase two selected Colgate toothpaste products at any Melcom outlet can nominate a student for consideration, with winners to be selected through weekly draws.

Speaking at the launch, Mr Edward Sonkor, Country Lead for Colgate Ghana, said the campaign sought to support educational opportunities for students while encouraging consumers to participate through their regular household purchases.

He said education remained an important tool for personal and national development and that the initiative was intended to assist students who required financial support for their studies.

“We have spent decades caring for smiles across Ghana, but a smile is more than healthy teeth. A smile is confidence. It is the power that helps a child walk into a classroom ready to learn.

“This campaign builds a culture that celebrates learning and ensures no child is left behind,” he said.

According to the organisers, each scholarship package, valued at GHS15,000, would be paid directly to beneficiaries’ schools to cover tuition, examination fees, approved levies and other educational expenses.

To participate, customers are required to purchase two selected Colgate toothpaste variants from any Melcom store, scan a designated QR code or send a message via WhatsApp to complete the nomination process.

Colgate-Palmolive Ghana said the campaign formed part of its broader community engagement efforts in health, education and social development.
