Ho (V/R), Oct. 17, GNA – The Volta Regional branch of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has elected new executives to steer the affairs of the association.

Mr Francis Hoetu was elected Chairman, with Mr Anthony Agbesime as Organiser, Mr Bright Eli Ahadzie as Trustee and Mr Prince Semabia as Treasurer. The elected executives were sworn into office by national executives of the association.

Before the election, Mr Philip Gariba, Acting Executive Secretary of CLOGSAG, appealed to members to cooperate with and support the leadership to strengthen the association and pave the way for a national delegates’ congress.

He said unity and collective commitment were necessary to advance the association’s interests and address challenges confronting its members.

Mr Samuel Nana Antwi, Acting National President of CLOGSAG, also urged members to unite despite their differences and work towards a common goal.

He said the association had significant prospects but required the collective ideas and participation of members to realise its potential.

Mr Antwi said the leadership intended to develop a four-year development plan through consultations with members across the regions, stressing that the plan would not be formulated solely by officials at the national secretariat.

He encouraged members to participate in the consultations and contribute ideas to shape the association’s priorities and future direction.

Mr Hoetu, in his acceptance remarks, thanked delegates for conducting the election peacefully and expressed appreciation to all members who participated in the process.

He said the new leadership would seek the advice and support of all contestants, adding that unity and teamwork would be essential to fulfilling the mandate entrusted to them.

“I solemnly pledge that this mandate given to us will not be taken for granted,” he said.

Mr Hoetu said he was determined to deliver on his promises and would work hard to avoid becoming a one-term chairman.

He, however, urged members to hold the executives accountable, saying they should be voted out at the next election if they failed to deliver on their commitments.

Mr Agbesime, the newly elected Organiser, also thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to work towards advancing the interests of the association.

Madam Gabriella Norviworfe Ketemepi, a delegate, told the GNA that she had confidence in the new leadership to deliver on its mandate and urged members to promote unity for the growth and development of the association.
