Accra, Oct. 26, GNA – Pastor Alfred Mark O. Attey, a minister of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, has called on Christians to cultivate a deeper personal relationship with God through prayer, meditation and spiritual reflection to strengthen their faith and enhance their service to humanity.
He said setting aside time for communion with God was essential to spiritual renewal, discernment and the strength required for Christian service, particularly in a world filled with daily pressures and distractions.
A statement issued to the Ghana News Agency, said Pastor Attey made the call when he preached a sermon on the theme, “Alone with God,” during a Sabbath worship service at the Middle-East Seventh-day Adventist Church in the Ashaiman New Life District.
The statement said the service was attended by his wife, Mrs. Margaret A. Attey, an Administrative Secretary at the General Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, the denomination’s world headquarters in the United States, and her brother, Dr Samuel Aryee, a medical doctor based in London.
It added that the visit brought together worship, spiritual reflection and engagement with district leadership, providing an opportunity for the congregation and church leaders to interact with the visiting family and share experiences on the work and mission of the Church.
In his sermon, Pastor Attey drew on biblical principles and personal reflections to underscore the importance of developing and maintaining a personal relationship with God.
He encouraged members to deliberately create time for prayer, meditation and spiritual reflection despite the demands of everyday life, stressing that a consistent walk with God was necessary for Christians to grow spiritually and remain effective in their service.
He reminded the congregation that personal communion with God helped believers obtain spiritual strength, renewal and discernment to navigate life’s challenges and fulfil their Christian responsibilities.
The congregation expressed appreciation for the visit and welcomed the delegation, describing the occasion as a memorable and spiritually enriching Sabbath experience.
The statement said the delegation met with the Ashaiman New Life District Board and its leadership for an engagement focused on church life, leadership and mission.
“The meeting brought together district officers and leaders to interact with the visitors, exchange experiences and reflect on their respective roles in strengthening the Church and advancing its mission,” it added.
It stressed that the visit concluded on a positive note, leaving members and leaders encouraged and reaffirmed their commitment to the Church’s mission.
According to the statement, Dr Aryee, a medical doctor based in London, had supported the Church’s work in various capacities and continued to contribute to its growth and mission.
It said the occasion served as a reminder that the mission of the Church was strengthened not only through public worship and evangelism but also through fellowship, leadership cooperation and the commitment of individual believers to maintaining a close relationship with God.
