Juaben (Ash), Oct. 27, GNA – Kingmakers of Bomfa in the Asante Juaben traditional area have enstooled 62-year-old Nana Kwame Agyemang Opambuor, as their new chief after eight years of litigation on the vacant stool.
The new chief, known in real life as Mr Kwame Agyemang, succeeds Nana Opoku Acheampong, who was deposed over issues involving accountability to the people he served.
Nana Opambuor, swearing an oath of allegiance to his people in the presence of Daasebre Otuo Sereboe II, the Juabenhene, pledged to lead with respect for the Bomfa Stool, Juaben Traditional Council and the Asante Kingdom at large.
The Juabenhene cautioned the new chief to always “appear neat before the stool.”
“The stool gives you power and honour, you should not do anything contrary to the stool’s bidden.
I do not want to see you in any arrogant or proud manner, work with truth and accuracy, stay calm and rule with dignity bringing all those who matter in decision making on board,” Nana Otuo Siriboe advised.
He called on the kingmakers to rally behind the new chief to ensure peace and development in Bomfa.
Nana Opambuor commended the Juabenhene for resolving the chieftaincy disputes to pave way for the installation of a new leader, emphasising that, this was going to restore hope, and provide a centralised foundation for cultural preservation, local governance, social cohesion and community development.
He assured his people of his commitment to work tirelessly with the kinsmen to attract modern development projects including a police station, senior high school, upgrade the existing health center and the construction of a state-of-the-art palace.
The new chief said, to make education and schooling attractive to kids, he will prioritise setting up an amusement center infused with learning materials.
He used the occasion to advise the youth to prioritise community development and be resourceful, critiquing that drug abuse, thuggery and robbery could ruin their progress in life.
