Accra, Oct. 6, GNA – Bawa-Rock Limited, a gold trading and mining company based at Obuasi in the Ashanti Region, has donated GH¢700,000 to poultry farmers in the Greater Accra Region whose businesses were devastated by the June 29, 2026 floods.

The relief package was presented to eight affected farmers at Roman Ridge in Accra.

A press release copied to the Ghana News Agency said the gesture formed part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme aimed at supporting individuals and businesses facing unforeseen challenges.

Presenting the support, the company’s CSR Manager, Mr Eric Addae Boateng, reaffirmed Bawa-Rock Limited’s commitment to helping farmers rebuild their businesses.

He said the funds would help offset losses resulting from the destruction of birds, farm infrastructure and working capital.

Mr Addae Boateng noted that the company would continue to implement initiatives that supported businesses affected by hardships, including natural disasters.

Mr Titus Frederick Lutterodt, the Chairman of the Greater Accra Regional Association of Poultry Farmers, commended Bawa-Rock Limited for the intervention, describing it as timely support for farmers grappling with heavy losses.

“Your kindness came at a moment when many of us had lost not only our birds and farm structures but also our livelihoods and hope for the future,” he said.

“The compensation has gone a long way in helping us to begin rebuilding our farms and facilities.”

Mr Shak Al-Mohammed of Shak Farms said he was overwhelmed by the company’s support at a time when many farmers were facing uncertainty and despair.

He expressed gratitude to the company for the assistance, adding that it would ease the burden of recovery and help farmers restart their operations.

Madam Abena Kyei, a poultry and piggery farmer, ho started her business, since 1995, said the June floods wiped out tens of thousands of her birds, leaving her discouraged and contemplating leaving the business.

“I was deeply discouraged and almost gave up. My hope was revived when I heard about Bawa-Rock’s support,” she said.

The company recently provided GH¢1.5 million worth of support to more than 300 traders affected by the September 5 Obuasi Town Hall fire. The assistance included industrial sewing machines and other start-up equipment to help beneficiaries restart their businesses.

Bawa-Rock Limited is an official aggregator for GoldBod and is committed to creating lasting value through transparency, compliance and community impact.
