Accra, Oct. 12, GNA – Reverend Dominic Yeo, the Global Chairman of the Assemblies of God Fellowship, has arrived in Ghana for the 10th Triennial World Congress of Assemblies of God, scheduled to open in Accra on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.
Reverend Yeo, accompanied by his wife, Mrs Chin Yeo, was received at the Accra International Airport by the General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, Reverend Stephen Yenusom Wengam.
Other global leaders expected to participate in the congress include the Global Vice Chairman, Reverend Doug Clay, the General Secretary, Reverend Juan Carlos Escobar, and General Superintendents of Assemblies of God churches from across the world.
Speaking on his arrival, Reverend Yeo expressed excitement that the congress was being held in Africa, particularly Ghana, describing it as an opportunity for spiritual revival on the continent.
“I’m excited that the Congress is taking place in Africa, and for that matter, Ghana. This indeed is God’s prophetic timing to bring an unequalled revival to Africa through Ghana,” he said.
He expressed confidence that the gathering would contribute to the spiritual renewal of the continent and appealed to members of Assemblies of God and the wider Christian community to participate in the event.
He noted that the congress was being held on African soil for the first time in the 115-year history of Assemblies of God.
The congress will feature morning sessions from Wednesday, October 14, to Friday, October 16, during which participants will discuss strategies to establish one million additional churches by 2033.
The target is part of the church’s preparations to mark 2,000 years since the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The morning sessions will be followed by evening gospel revival rallies at the Accra Sports Stadium, with attendance free and open to Christians of all denominations.
Ghanaian gospel musician Joe Mettle, alongside Nigerian gospel artistes Dunsin and Sinach, and Donadio from the United States, are expected to minister during the evening rallies.
President John Dramani Mahama and the First Lady, Mrs Lordina Mahama, both described as active members of Assemblies of God, Ghana, are expected to attend the opening ceremony as Special Guests of Honour.
Eighteen Ministers of State have also confirmed their participation in the congress.
Reverend Yeo urged the public to attend the programme and take advantage of the spiritual activities planned for the gathering.
For his part, Reverend Wengam assured participants that Ghana was prepared to host a successful, world-class event.
