Ve-Agbome (V/R), Oct. 27, GNA -The Member of Parliament for Afadzato South, Mr Frank Afriyie, has called on the youth to take an active role in politics and national development, stressing that the future of Ghana rests in their hands.
Speaking during the National Democratic Congress (NDC) constituency executive elections at Ve-Agbome, Mr Afriyie said the country belongs to the younger generation and that the current generation has a responsibility to lay a strong foundation for their future.
“This country belongs not to me, not to Mahama, nor to those of us who have crossed the 40-year mark. We have only borrowed it from the youth to take care of it and lay the necessary foundation for them,” he said.
Mr Afriyie expressed encouragement over the ages of the delegates and aspirants participating in the elections, noting that their involvement demonstrates that the youth are gradually taking their rightful place in politics.
He urged young people to move beyond calls for recognition and actively participate in decision-making and leadership.
He further emphasised the need to build a prosperous Ghana that creates jobs, expands opportunities, empowers citizens, reduces poverty and suffering, and improves living standards.
According to him, Ghana is a blessed country, and collective efforts must be made to create an environment where young people can find opportunities at home rather than leave the country in search of greener pastures abroad.
