Dzodze (V/R), Sept. 23, GNA – Torgbui Adzenu III, Divisional Chief of Dzodze Afeyeme Agorgorme Sreme, has joined traditional leaders, health professionals and community stakeholders to cut the sod for the construction of a new Cancer Treatment Centre at St. Anthony Hospital.
The 10-bed facility is expected to improve access to specialised cancer care for residents in the area and surrounding communities, while reducing the need for patients to travel long distances in search of treatment.
Recognising the importance of the project to healthcare delivery, Torgbui Adzenu donated GHS5,000 in cash and two trips of sand valued at GHS4,000, bringing his total contribution to GHS9,000 towards the construction of the facility.
Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony, the Divisional Chief said he was committed to supporting initiatives that promoted the health, welfare and socio-economic development of the people.
He said the establishment of the centre would be an important step towards bringing specialised cancer treatment closer to communities and providing hope and support to patients and their families.
The ceremony brought together traditional leaders, health professionals, community members, and other stakeholders who shared the vision of establishing the facility.
The project is being supported as a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative by Regulus Investment and Financial Services Ghana Limited in partnership with Provident Insurance Company.
When completed, the facility is expected to strengthen healthcare delivery and provide dedicated cancer treatment services in the Volta Region.
Torgbui Adzenu III said his contribution formed part of his broader support for community development initiatives and reflected the role traditional leadership could play in mobilising resources for projects that directly improved the lives of residents.
