Ho, Sept. 02, GNA – Reverend Professor Frederick Mawusi Amevenku, has officially ended his service as President of the Trinity Theological Seminary (TTS), Legon, effective September 1, 2026.
This is because of his election as the Fifth Moderator of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church Ghana (EPCG) at the 12th General Assembly of the Church in Ho.
A source close to the Church and Rev Prof Amevenku disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency in Ho on Wednesday.
He said Rev. Prof. Amevenku’s departure marked an interlude in his long and distinguished relationship with the Seminary, which spanned several years.
The official stated that the Moderator Elect joined the Faculty of the Seminary in 2011 and progressively rose through the ranks before being appointed as its President in August 2024.
He stated that Rev. Prof. Amevenku prior to his appointment as President, served the Seminary in several important capacities including Assistant to the Academic Dean, Faculty Secretary, Warden of EPCG Students and Director of Graduate Studies.
He noted that these roles provided him with extensive experience in academic administration, theological education and ministerial formation, which subsequently informed his leadership of the institution.
The official intimated Rev. Prof. Amevenku expressed his profound appreciation to the Council, Faculty, staff, students, alumni, friends and partners of the Seminary as well as his family and all those who supported him throughout his year of service at the Seminary, as he transitioned from the Seminary to his new ecclesiastical responsibility
He noted that the Moderator Elect was “deeply grateful for the cooperation, encouragement, friendship and prayers from all.”
The official told the GNA that the Moderator Elect wished the incoming President, and the entire Seminary community God’s guidance, strength and wisdom as they continued the important task of training competent, theologically grounded and spiritually mature Ministers for the Church in Ghana and beyond.
He said Rev. Prof. Amevenku humbly solicited the continued prayers and support of the Church, the Seminary community colleagues, friends and well-wishers as he prepared to assume the enormous responsibility of serving as the Moderator of the EPCG.
The official disclosed that the Rev Prof Amevenku will be inducted into office as the Moderator of the EPCG in January 2027.
