Bolgatanga, Sept. 6, GNA – Mr Ebenezer Amoah, a philanthropist and businessman, has donated four Omron nebulizer machines to the Upper East Regional Hospital to support healthcare delivery.
A nebulizer is a medical device that converts liquid medication into a fine mist, for inhalation directly into the lungs through a mouthpiece or face mask.
The device is commonly used to administer medication to patients with respiratory conditions such as asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), cystic fibrosis and severe allergies.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency after the donation, Mr Amoah said his love for children, who he noted would be among the major beneficiaries of the gesture, motivated him to undertake the initiative.
The Accra-based philanthropist and owner of Laroche Logistics Ventures, said his philanthropic activities had previously been concentrated in Accra until Dr Joseph Kojo Tambil, Medical Director of the Regional Hospital, reached out to him to extend support to the facility.
“I immediately agreed when Dr Tambil reached out to me to extend support to the Upper East Regional Hospital. I do some of these donations as my appreciation to God for helping my business to grow,” Mr Amoah said.
He said the donation would not be his last to the hospital, and indicated his readiness to continue supporting the facility whenever its leadership reached out to him.
Dr Tambil, who received the machines on behalf of the hospital, said the facility had about two nebulizers, making the donation particularly important.
He described nebulizers as vital equipment that should be available in every hospital’s emergency unit, “So this is a very important donation. It is going to solve one huge gap that we had in our services.
“We thank the company for coming to our assistance. It is our prayer that the good Lord would replenish what was spent, make their business successful so that they can continue to support hospitals, including ours,” he said.
Dr Tambil expressed hope that the “new-found collaboration” between the hospital and the donor would continue to benefit patients.
He also appealed to other individuals, organizations and businesses to support the facility as it works to improve healthcare delivery and fulfil its mandate.
