Beijing, Sept 29 (RIA Novosti/GNA) – The number of people using generative artificial intelligence (AI) in China has exceeded 700 million, according to a report by the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, at the Seventh China Internet Basic Resources Conference, CNNIC presented the Report on the Development of Generative AI Applications (2026).
“As of the first half of 2026, the number of generative artificial intelligence users in China exceeded 700 million, with a penetration rate exceeding 50%,” the report read.
CNNIC added that 76% of users say they use generative AI to answer questions.
In the first half of 2026, the number of uses of AI assistants and AI tools for efficient work grew by more than 100% compared to the same period last year.
