Sunyani (Bono), Sept. 24, GNA – MTN Ghana, a telecommunications company, has launched the 2026 Suncity Festival with a renewed commitment to providing excellent services to its customers.
Mr Obed Adu-Amankwaah, Bono Regional Sales Manager of MTN Ghana, who gave the assurance, said the company was also committed to offering life-changing rewards to loyal customers as it marked its 30th anniversary.
He said over the past three decades, MTN has remained committed to connecting people, supporting communities and enabling progress.
“From our early days as Spacefon, through Areeba, to the MTN we know today, our journey has been shaped by innovation, resilience, partnership and the loyalty of our customers,” Mr Amankwaa stated at a ceremony in Sunyani.
He said over the years, MTN has introduced transformational services, including GSM, Mobile Money, enterprise and digital solutions, and invested significantly in its network to provide customers with stable network and internet connectivity.
Mr Adu-Amankwaah said the company supported essential services during challenging periods, including the COVID-19 pandemic, and had undertaken close to 200 social impact projects in health, education and economic empowerment.
“These projects have been executed as our contribution to national development, and these milestones remind us that our growth has always been connected to the growth of the communities we serve.”
Touching on the Suncity Festival, Mr Adu-Amankwaah said the event remained one of MTN’s key regional platforms for connecting with communities, celebrating local culture and rewarding customers.
He said it also strengthened relationships with traditional leaders, businesses, youth groups and other stakeholders.
Mr Adu-Amankwaah said the 2026 celebration featured a rich blend of activities designed to entertain, engage, support and celebrate the people of the Bono Region.
The activities include a walkathon, free health screening, music concert, and an inter-community football gala.
The football gala would be held at the Twene Amanfo Senior High School Park in Sunyani from September 26 to October 11, 2026.
It would feature local teams from Area One, Area Two, Newtown, Zongo, Kotokrom, Baakoniaba and Nkwabeng.
Mr Adu-Amankwaah said the activities reinforced MTN’s commitment to appreciating its customers for their loyalty and support.
Mr Kwame Baa Mensa, Bono Regional Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA), commended MTN for organising the festival, saying sports development had evolved beyond entertainment to become a platform for identifying talent and building careers.
He said the Government remained committed to developing sports in the region, adding that plans were far advanced for President John Dramani Mahama to cut the sod for the construction of a new sports stadium in the Sunyani Municipality in early October 2026.
Mr Ransford Antwi, Chief Executive Officer of the Suncity Group of Companies and local organiser of the festival, commended MTN for sustaining the Suncity Festival over the past 10 years.
