Mpohor (W/R), Sept. 13, GNA – The Mpohor-Fiase District Assembly through the Disability Common Fund, has organised a training workshop for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) in the district, to equip them with practical self-employable skills.
The training, which is to empower them economically and improve upon their livelihoods, focused on the production of liquid and solid soap, and after-wash and bleach, was to enable participants to establish small businesses, generate income and become economically self-reliant.
At the training, Madam Sophia Aubyn, the Mpohor-Fiase District Chief Executive, assured them of government’s commitment to improving their livelihoods and reiterated the Assembly’s readiness to support them with start-up kits after the training to enable them put their newly acquired skills into practice.


Mr John Donkoh, the Presiding Member of the Assembly, encouraged them to believe in their abilities, stressing that disability was not inability and that they could also do something meaningful to improve upon their lives.
Officers from the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development also took turns to educate the participants on business sustainability, branding and marketing to help them effectively manage and grow their businesses.
