Tel Aviv, Sept 20. (dpa/GNA) – Israel’s military said on Sunday, that it killed three members of the Palestinian Islamist Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip, including two who were allegedly involved in the October 7, 2023 massacre in Israel.
A Hamas commander was among those killed, the military and the Shin Bet domestic intelligence agency said. The three had recently been preparing attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians, and were targeted to eliminate the threat, according to an IDF statement.
Palestinian officials said seven Palestinians had been killed in several Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip in recent days. No details were initially available about their identities. At least one of those killed was reportedly a minor.
The accounts could not be independently verified. The Israeli government has vowed to pursue those involved in the Hamas-led attacks of October 7, 2023.
Although a ceasefire has officially been in place since October 2025, deadly attacks have repeatedly occurred.
Israel has recently stepped up airstrikes in Gaza, targeting senior Hamas members who the IDF says were planning attacks against Israeli soldiers or civilians.
Israel’s military chief of staff Eyal Zamir, said at the end of August that the army would continue “the hunt for the terrorists of October 7.”
The Times of Israel reported in July that, according to Israeli figures, more than 2,000 suspected perpetrators are still in Gaza. The paper said around 5,000 infiltrated Israel on the day of the massacre. About 2,700 of them have already been killed and a further 300 suspected perpetrators are in custody in Israel.
The Hamas-led attacks on Israel triggered the war in Gaza.
