Brahabebome (W/R), Sept. 21, GNA – The Gold Fields Ghana Foundation (GFGF) has constructed a GH¢ 616,858.00 water system to support the increasing population in Brahabebome, a community in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality.
The facility which includes a 40,000-liter water storage system, two mechanised boreholes, and four standpipes, aimed at providing safe and reliable water supply to the beneficiary community.
At the handing over ceremony, Madam Sandra Deladem Woanyah, the Project Manager of the GFGF, explained that the completion of the project had contributed to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) 3,6,11, and 17.
She said the GFGF collaborated with the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Assembly, Water and Sanitation team and the Landlords Association in Brahabebome to ensure the success of the project.
Madam Woanyah said to ensure proper maintenance and sustainability of the facility, the Foundation would hand it over to the Landlords association and the Water and Sanitation team.
She observed that globally women and children bear the responsibility of searching for water, adding now their mothers, wives, and children in Brahabebome would no longer spend hours going far in search of water because it was just at their doorstep.
Nana Ansah, the chief of Brahabebome, expressed appreciation to the GFGF for the intervention and said the facility would help address a major challenge that had confronted the community for years.
Mr Muntari Mohammed, the Assembly member for Brahabebome Electoral Area, applauded the GFGF for the facility and its consistent assistance to the community.
