Ho, Sept. 6, GNA – Archbishop Professor Innocent Okechy-Gilbert, Executive President of the Word and Spirit Divinity College and Theological Seminary, West Africa, says God has a predetermined purpose for every individual and urged people to identify and maximise their potential for the benefit of themselves and society.
He said it was also imperative for people to discover, activate and fully develop their divine purpose to transform their lives effectively.
Archbishop Okechy-Gilbert said this at the College’s eighth graduation ceremony in Ho, where students were awarded diplomas as well as bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees.
He said since its establishment, the College had remained committed to educating Gospel ministers and Christian workers from various denominations without doctrinal bias.
The Archbishop expressed concern that many Christian leaders of the current generation were spiritually blinded, a situation he said hindered their ability to preach the Word of God accurately and with clear vision.
He warned that one of the greatest dangers confronting believers was allowing their faith to be diverted and controlled by a religious spirit rather than being grounded in the unadulterated Word of God.
The event, which coincided with the College’s 20th anniversary celebration, was held on the theme: “The Prestige of Priesthood: The Territorial Enlargement.”
Speaking on the theme, Reverend Seth Kwesi Mawutor, Chairman of the Christian Council, urged Christians to expand their personal vision as a prerequisite for territorial enlargement.
He said enlarging one’s territory required intensive prayer, discipline, behavioural change and a shift in mindset, stressing that true greatness began in the mind.
Rev Mawutor advised the graduates to remain focused on Scripture, work towards overcoming their weaknesses, strengthen their faith and deepen their devotion to God.
Mr Stephen Adom, Ho Municipal Chief Executive, encouraged the graduates to seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit in all their endeavours and study the Scriptures diligently for the revelations needed to fulfil their calling.
He urged them to maintain vibrant prayer lives and remain filled with the Holy Spirit to overcome life’s challenges and tribulations.
Mr Adom also advised the graduates to remain humble and avoid pride, saying God rewarded those who served His Kingdom faithfully and diligently.
